Reliable knives, consistent service

I've ordered from Seido Knives a few times now, mainly individual knives to build up my collection. This time I got the Kiritsuke knife and a honing steel. The order arrived just as expected, about a week after I placed it. It's the same good quality I've come to expect from them; the blade is super sharp right out of the box. I keep coming back because their stuff is consistently good and holds up well with proper care. Always a solid choice for kitchen tools.

Good value for a chef set

I was looking for a decent professional chef set without breaking the bank. I waited for a sale and picked up the 8-piece knife set when it had a good discount. Shipping took about 5 days to reach Denver. The quality for the price I paid felt really good. I compared it to some more expensive brands, and honestly, for a home cook, this set is more than enough. It felt like a smart purchase overall.

So sharp, so good

I ordered the Damascus steel chef knife last week and it got here super fast, like 3 days to my place in California. This knife is incredible! It slices through everything so smoothly. I used it to prep dinner tonight and it made quick work of all the veggies. Definitely shopping here again for more knives, maybe that Santoku next. I'll be telling my friends about this!

How do these compare to Shun knives? I'm used to Shun but Seido looks pretty good for the price.

D David Osei 3 months ago
I've got a couple Shuns and a Seido Santoku. Shun definitely feels a bit more premium, but the Seido holds its own really well for everyday use. For the price difference, Seido is a solid contender.

It's a different vibe, I think. Seido is great, super sharp out of the box. Shun is often pricier for a reason, but Seido gives you a lot of bang for your buck. If you're not a pro chef, you might not even notice a huge difference in performance for most tasks.

Has anyone had to return anything to Seido Knives? How was the process? Is it a hassle or pretty straightforward?

D Daisy C. 2 months ago
I returned a knife block (ordered the wrong size) last year. It was pretty easy, just had to fill out a form online and send it back. Got my refund quickly once they got it.

Yeah, returns were easy, did it last month. Just make sure you still have the original packaging and it's unused, that's what they say in their policy afaik.

There's a 15% off code floating around, but I also saw something about a free shipping minimum. Can I use both the discount and get free shipping on a single order if I hit the minimum?

T Todd T. 2 months ago
From my experience, most of their promos can't be stacked. You usually have to pick one or the other. The free shipping often kicks in automatically once you hit the amount, but you might not be able to add another code on top of that.

I tried that during Black Friday and it didn't work. The system only let me apply one discount code at checkout. Free shipping usually has its own rules.

Considering the 8-piece set, but wondering about shipping time to, like, Los Angeles. Anyone from SoCal order recently?

I'm in San Diego, ordered a Gyuto last month and it got here in about 5 days. Not super express, but decent.

My set took about a week to get to me in OC. Not super fast like Amazon Prime but it's free shipping on sets, so can't complain too much.

Hey, thinking of getting one of the Seido chef knives. Are they actually real Damascus steel or just some laser-etched stuff?

W Wendy P. 3 months ago
Nah, they're legit. I got the Santoku a few months back and the pattern is definitely in the steel, not just on top. Feels super solid too.

I was worried about that too! but from what I've read and seen on some reviews, they use actual layered steel for the Damascus look and strength. It's not fakey.
